Minecraft Dungeons 2 Crossplay: Platforms & Party Codes

Minecraft Dungeons II crossplay is confirmed. Check supported platforms, use a party code to join friends, and separate joining problems from save transfers.

Last updated: 2026-10-04

Yes, Minecraft Dungeons II has crossplay. Friends can join across platforms using the party’s eight-character code. You do not need the same console just to be in the same party.

Checked October 4, 2026. Mojang’s September 29 co-op article is the primary confirmation. This guide explains the documented joining method; it is not a record of our own platform-pair tests.

Which platforms should you check?

The official Dungeons II page lists Windows, Steam, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Use that list with Mojang’s crossplay announcement when planning a group.

Read the full device name

“Xbox” is not specific enough: check for Series X|S. Likewise, distinguish PS5 from PS4 and the Steam store from an operating system or a handheld device.

PS4 and Xbox One are not in the reviewed sequel platform list. Owning the first Dungeons on an older console does not establish that it can run the sequel. A Steam listing also does not, by itself, certify every Steam Deck configuration. Before a purchase, follow the platform links on the official product page and check the requirements for the device you actually own.

Can I be sure before asking a friend to buy it?

That was the task behind u/Booleybay’s crossplay question: they wanted official confirmation before asking their brother-in-law to buy. One reply reports playing between PC and PlayStation, but the stronger basis for a decision is Mojang’s announcement, not that single report.

Our suggested check is to exchange exact platform names and Dungeons II store links first. Then check each console player’s online subscription and account permissions. This separates “the game supports crossplay” from “this device and account are ready to join tonight.”

Join with a party code

  1. Ask the player whose party you want to join for its current code.
  2. Open join by party code in Dungeons II.
  3. Enter the eight letters and numbers exactly as supplied.
  4. Confirm you reached the intended party before starting a long session.

Mojang says codes work for a lobby or a game already underway, regardless of platform. A code identifies the current party; it is not a Minecraft world seed, a store redemption key, or a way to import a hero.

For two people sharing a device plus friends elsewhere, use the multiplayer setup guide to count local players as well as remote ones.

If the invitation does not work

Treat these as checks to narrow the problem, not guaranteed fixes:

  • Confirm the title on both devices. Tutorials for the original Dungeons may show menus that do not apply to II.
  • Ask for the current party code rather than reusing an old screenshot.
  • Check the number of players already in the party.
  • Read any account, connection or subscription error in full. Check online access on the account actually joining, especially on a shared console.
  • Keep platform names, game versions and the exact error when asking Minecraft support for help.

Do not unlink accounts as a first experiment. An invitation failure and a missing hero are different problems and need different evidence.

Crossplay does not answer the save question

Crossplay means you and a friend play together using different platforms. Cross-progression means you continue your own hero after moving to another device. Neither term alone promises another store’s game license, Deluxe content, or DLC entitlement.

If the party joins successfully but you cannot find your hero on another machine, move to the cross-progression and account checklist. Repeating the invitation will not establish which account owns that hero.

What has not been verified here?

We have not tested every platform pairing, platform-specific crossplay toggle, child-account configuration, or current service availability. The official announcement establishes support; it does not promise that every connection attempt will succeed. No unverified menu sequence from the first game is presented here as a sequel fix.
