Minecraft Dungeons 2 Capes: Eligibility & Claim Guide
Check Minecraft Dungeons 2 cape eligibility, Hero account rules, expired preorder bonuses and Aurora viewing deadlines. Follow the correct claim route first.
Last updated: 2026-10-07
Minecraft Dungeons 2 capes have separate requirements. Start with the cape's name and the game where you want to wear it. The Hero Cape rewards returning players, the Twisted Cape is a past preorder bonus, and the Soul Cape belongs to Deluxe. Aurora is a Java/Bedrock reward, not a Dungeons II cape.
Checked October 7, 2026 against Mojang's Capes & Promos, the official game FAQ, and Minecraft's cape support article. Use those requirements to check your own account and purchase record.
Identify the cape before following a claim route
- Hero
Play the original Dungeons, then sign into II with the same Microsoft account before December 31, 2026.
- Check the account used in both games.
- Twisted
Eligible preorder reward; no longer available through a new purchase.
Check your original preorder and its redemption details.
- Soul
- Included with Dungeons II Deluxe.
- Check the edition you bought.
- Corrupted Creeper
- Distributed through events and promotions.
Check the terms of a specific current event.
- Special
- Mojang has not published a claim procedure in the reviewed article.
- Check for a new official announcement.
- Aurora
- Java/Bedrock livestream promotion.
Check the game receiving the reward and the viewing/redemption deadlines.
This list distinguishes eligibility from a successful claim. Owning one cape does not establish that you qualify for another. A picture of a cape on a store or community page also does not prove that a current promotion will supply it.
Hero Cape: check the same account across both games
The official FAQ says previous play on Game Pass or Steam qualifies if you use the same Microsoft account in Dungeons II. You do not need to replay the original if you already played it on that account. It also describes eligibility through a friend's co-op session when you sign in with your own matching account; ownership of both games is not required by that FAQ.
Before the December 31 deadline, check the account used for your earlier Dungeons play, then the account signed into II. Once the cape is available in II, use that same account in Java or Bedrock to check it there. Do not substitute a similar display name for an account match.
For a family sharing a device, make a private note of which player completed the qualifying action. Avoid changing several account links at once while trying to identify a mismatch. Our cross-progression guide provides a separate checklist for a missing hero; a cosmetic reward and a hero save need separate checks.
Twisted Cape: an old preorder can still need redemption
Buying Standard or Deluxe now is not a way to obtain the past preorder bonus. Minecraft's support instructions tell eligible players to sign into II and confirm their preorder items, then sign into Java or Bedrock with the same Microsoft account to check Twisted.
For a physical preorder, Mojang's promotional instructions say to redeem the included code on the purchase platform first. Use the Xbox, Nintendo or PlayStation route specified there, then check the in-game reward.
In this physical PS5 preorder discussion, u/Big_Kaleidoscope409 reported a missing code. Some replies report similar problems; one later says their retailer emailed a working code. Those reports do not establish a solution for every retailer or purchase.
If your package has no code, check the retailer's order communications and ask the retailer or Minecraft support about your particular preorder. Keep the receipt and order date for a private support request. Do not publish your code, account address or receipt in a public thread, and do not buy another copy on the assumption that it will replace a missing preorder entitlement.
Aurora: separate viewing time from code redemption
The official promotion lists rewards-enabled live streams: at least 3 minutes on TikTok or 15 on Twitch, within September 29–October 14, 2026. It labels the end time 11:59 PM PST. Codes come through TikTok Notifications or Twitch Inventory and must be redeemed by October 31 at Minecraft's redemption page. The reward belongs to Java/Bedrock.
Before watching, check that the stream is live and rewards-enabled. After watching, distinguish three steps: completing the viewing requirement, receiving a code, and redeeming it on the intended account. An archived video is not the same task as watching an eligible live stream. Keep the watching deadline and the later redemption deadline separate in any reminder you make for yourself.
If a platform has not issued a code, consult that platform's promotion information. If you have a code but redemption fails, keep the error and relevant dates for support. This guide does not promise replacement codes, a sync time or a working route after the promotion ends.
Soul, Corrupted Creeper and Special
Minecraft support identifies Soul as exclusive to Dungeons II. Check your Deluxe ownership; Soul will not appear in Java or Bedrock. For Corrupted Creeper, check an identified event's own dates and terms; an old event walkthrough is not proof of a currently available code. For Special, wait for a published claim method rather than following an unsupported puzzle or purchase claim.
Mojang's reviewed article explicitly describes Java/Bedrock unlocking for Hero and Twisted, and places Aurora in Java/Bedrock. Do not extend those instructions to every Deluxe cosmetic or event cape. Keep the reward's exact name in any support question.
If the reward still does not appear
Record the cape, expected game, platform, qualifying action and date. Check the account privately. Preserve the original purchase or redemption record, and stop before deleting saves or unlinking accounts as an experiment. Minecraft support describes account mismatches, original-game activity without Microsoft sign-in, and entitlement processing as checks for a missing cape. It gives no guaranteed waiting period. If those checks do not resolve your case, contact support.
