Minecraft 26.60 is a Bedrock Edition release published on October 27, 2026. Mojang's official 26.60 changelog separates regular fixes from experimental game-drop features. Installing the release does not make every experimental feature part of an ordinary world.
This is a source-based summary checked October 28, 2026. We have not installed 26.60, tested its fixes or verified an update on each device.
The player-facing changes to look for
Mojang reports more than 600 fixes, including 89 community-reported issues. Selected fixes include:
- Storage: Bundle contents should no longer disappear randomly in a Double Chest.
- Villagers: interacting while opening inventory should no longer leave villagers unresponsive.
- Commands: fixes address redstone and piston behavior after
/fillor/setblockchanges. - Signing in: a silent Xbox Live sign-in hang now times out with a network error.
These are reported fixes, not results from our own play session. Use the full changelog when checking a particular bug; this selection is not a complete list.
Why the ice features are still experimental
Ice Caves, Ice Crystals, Icicles, Frostbites and the Freezing effect appear under Experimental Game Drops Features — Drop 4 of 2026. The notes also flag undersized Ice Crystals as a known issue. Treat this content as an experiment, even when running the retail game.
Microsoft's Bedrock experiments documentation explains that retail and Preview builds can both contain optional experiments. Its example toggle lists are for older builds, so do not copy an old toggle name and assume it matches 26.60.
For a separate test world:
- Open its Game settings and find Experiments.
- Read the available game-drop option and its warning in your installed build.
- Keep a manual copy of an important world before enabling anything.
- After creation, look for the Experimental tag in the Worlds list.
The documentation warns that experimental worlds can break and cannot be restored to a non-experimental state. Its automatic-copy behavior for existing worlds is useful, but keeping your own backup gives you a separate recovery point. We have not tested the 26.60 toggle screen or world generation.
How to update the normal Bedrock game
Use the store or game-management screen for the copy you own. Mojang's official update instructions cover Windows, mobile and Xbox:
- Windows: open Microsoft Store, go to Library, and check for app updates. Update Minecraft for Windows, then reopen the game.
- iPhone or iPad: find Minecraft in the App Store and use Update when offered.
- Android: open Minecraft's Google Play listing and use Update when available. Check whether that installation is enrolled in Beta.
- Xbox: select Minecraft in My Apps & Games, open Manage game & add-ons, then check Updates.
- PS4 or PS5: highlight Minecraft, press Options, then Check for Update, following PlayStation's official steps.
- Nintendo Switch or Switch 2: highlight the game on HOME without starting it, press + or −, then choose Software Update and Via the Internet. Nintendo provides instructions for Switch and Switch 2.
After the download finishes, check the version displayed in Minecraft. An article's publication date does not confirm that your particular device has received the package. If the store offers a later hotfix, consult that version's notes rather than trying to downgrade to match this page.
Retail, Preview and Android Beta are different choices
Mojang's guide to testing new features identifies Minecraft Preview as the Bedrock testing channel. On Android, joining Beta replaces the normal app with the test build while enrolled. Installing an update for Preview is not the same operation as updating retail Minecraft to 26.60. Java snapshots and releases have their own notes.
For ordinary multiplayer, confirm which app and version each person is running before troubleshooting a connection. Mojang warns that test builds are unstable, can corrupt worlds and only support test-world multiplayer with players on the same game version. Do not assume a higher Preview number means compatibility with a retail friend's world.
Before updating an add-on world or hosted server, keep a backup and check the pack author's or host's version guidance. Updating the client alone does not demonstrate that a third-party pack or server has been updated successfully. This guide makes no claim that every add-on works with 26.60.
If you are comparing test content, keep the 26.70.21 Packed Ice Preview guide separate from this retail release summary. Return to the official 26.60 changelog for the release's complete technical changes and bug references.
